Grandma's House

For this personal creative project, I experimented with texture and mixed media in a new way. I layered painted shapes and colors to create a cozy kitchen counter scene with ripe tomatoes and an olive oil bottle repurposed as a vase. After digitally manipulating and printing the bottle label, I used an image transfer technique to apply it to the piece, creating a faded, peeling effect. I also embroidered a piece of painted paper to mimic a needlepoint “Home Sweet Home” artwork, which is a nostalgic staple in many grandmothers’ kitchens.
