For this TIME Magazine article, I created three editorial illustrations that distill the article’s urgent themes into striking, conceptual imagery. Using a cut-paper collage technique, I built bold, layered compositions that convey the fragility of our global food systems in the face of climate change. A chile pepper in the snow visually disrupts expectations, symbolizing how extreme weather is reshaping where and how crops can grow. Cans of applesauce forming the shape of an apple highlight the increasing reliance on processed alternatives as fresh produce becomes scarce or unaffordable. Through simple yet powerful iconography, these illustrations make the article’s economic and environmental message both immediate and accessible, emphasizing the real-world impact of climate disasters on everyday essentials.
