Junction Food & Drink is a modern food hall in Denver that recently underwent renovations, new management, and new vendors. As part of these updates, I was commissioned to design a custom map graphic for the side of a new photo booth installation. The map was intended to orient visitors and highlight Junction’s location within the broader Denver metropolitan area.
The design needed to align with Junction’s existing brand guidelines, which balance a contemporary, clean aesthetic with warm, earthy colors and textures inspired by the location. I worked within Junction’s palette of rusty browns and creams and kept the visual style crisp and approachable to complement both the overarching brand and the individual vendor identities housed within the food hall.
To keep the map both geographically accurate and visually approachable, I selectively simplified the existing Denver map by reducing the complexity of the street grid and focusing on major roads, rivers, and the light rail line. This ensures the map is not only an aesthetically pleasing and welcoming visual, but also is an effective wayfinding tool for Denver natives and visitors alike.
