Horizon Chocolate Milk

Horizon Organic is a leading U.S. dairy company and the largest supplier of organic milk in North America, widely recognized for its red label and flying cow logo. As an exercise in packaging design, I developed a refreshed concept for their chocolate milk product aimed at enhancing both shelf presence and user experience.

The proposed design consolidates eight individual chocolate milk boxes into a single, larger package shaped like a classic milk carton. This structural choice optimizes fridge space compared to a standard rectangular configuration and conveniently opens at the top to access the smaller boxes inside.

Visually, the packaging maintains a subtle nod to Horizon’s iconic red branding while introducing a rich chocolate brown to immediately communicate flavor. The design emphasizes the brand’s playful identity and appeal to children through an expanded use of the flying cow motif as well as natural elements like grass and clouds. These elements reinforce the brand’s organic positioning while also serving functional roles. Clouds serve as containers for text, and the continuous grass visually unifies all sides of the package.
