Auraria Campus Parking

Auraria Campus Parking and Transportation Services, as one of the largest departments and by far the biggest revenue generator, required special attention during the campus-wide rebrand. Here I’ve presented a select few projects I worked on for Parking during this time.

I worked within the new brand guidelines to design a variety of updated signage and advertisements for the department. Some of these projects, such as the Campus Accessible Shuttle signage, just needed a refresh of the existing version. On the other hand, the fence wraps and billboards were a completely new project. The goal of these was to inform visitors of the public parking opportunities on campus, which are conveniently close to the Ball Arena, Empower Field, and Performing Arts Complex. I used bright contrasting colors and bold type to attract the attention of passersby on Auraria Parkway and direct them to the campus.

The new maps I designed almost from scratch, starting with CAD files and building them out in Adobe Illustrator. I designed the color coding system, labeled all necessary elements, and created a key with icons. During the process, many iterations of the map were created to serve different purposes. I worked to strategically place information to make each map as streamlined as possible, while keeping a consistent structure across all the variations.
